Engaging Interviews from the Mountaintop
Hosted by Appalachian State University's Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock, Appalachian Perspective cable television program features prominent and interesting North Carolinians, the university's leading academic and public service programs, and other topics of statewide interest. It airs across the state on cable operators' community access channels.
Popular guests have included entertainer Arthur Smith, artist Bob Timberlake, North Carolina's top tourism executive Lynn Minges, and Discovery Place's CEO John Mackay.
The 30-minute program is a production of the university's Office of Public Affairs and Department of Communication.
Appalachian Perspective is recorded in the Crutchfield Radio and Television Center, located in Wey Hall, by students in the Department of Communication. By working on Appalachian Perspective, students gain experience in all aspects of studio production: operating studio cameras, lights, audio equipment and control-room electronics, and serving in leadership roles as director and floor manager.
